A lot of girls like flowers on Valentine’s Day, and don’t get me wrong, I love flowers, but why not add in something a little extra by adding in some homemade chocolates? And why not save some money this year by not going to Godiva, and surprise your Valentine with something made by you.
You can also personalize these truffles to what you (or your love) loves. You can roll your truffles in toasted coconut, cocoa powder, or chop up some of your favorite nuts, or even festive sprinkles. At the very least, share them with some one you love. Whether that be coworkers, friends, the best boyfriend, or maybe all of the above.
Chocolate Truffles Recipe
8 ounces of semi-sweet or bittersweet chocolate (high quality, 60% cacao or higher), well chopped into small pieces.
1/2 cup of heavy whipping cream
1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
In a small saucepan bring the heavy whipping cream, and vanilla extract to a simmer, watching it carefully so it doesn’t burn.
Place the chocolate in to a separate bowl. Pour the heated cream over the chocolate, and allow to stand for a few minutes then stir until smooth.
Allow the chocolate mixture to cool, then place in the refrigerator for two hours. Remove and with a teaspoon roll it out into balls. Roll in your hands quickly (as it will melt from the heat of your hands) and place on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
Roll the truffles in cocoa powder or toasted coconut and serve, or place back in the refrigerator until needed.
